A bit of history ...
The colour "Royal Blue" was created here
The origin of "Royal Blue" can be dated back to the time of 18th Century, when King George III (1760 - 1820) tested clothiers across the country to deliver a colour suitable for Royalty.

A textile mill called Scutts Bridge Mill in Rode, owned by the Batten Family (now “The Mill at Rode” Pub), was producing fabric for the imperial attires was at that point being made. It also created the triumphant colour that was chosen by the King George III himself.

It is an extremely rich blue, which got to be known as 'The Royal Blue'.
The triumphant colour velvet was used for Queen Charlotte (1744-1818) for her royal gown at her wedding to King George III in 1761.
